Every great adventure begins with a single step - sometimes, that step is onto a train.

Wondering how to get to your adventure with us? We’ve put together some more information and tips for getting your destination. If you have a specific questions then please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Zurich is the closest airport to access to the Bernese Oberland Ski Tour, however you can also fly into Geneva which isn’t too much further (we recommend using Sky Scanner to help plan your flights).

Trip Overview

This route combines some of Switzerland’s most scenic valleys, mountain villages, and lakeside towns with the efficiency and comfort of the Swiss rail system.

Staying in Interlaken
This trip starts and finishes in Interlaken, a lively resort town set between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, with the Jungfrau mountains rising above. It’s the perfect base before and after your ski trip, whether you want to relax by the lakes, explore the town’s cafés and shops, or take a short excursion into the surrounding valleys.

From Zurich Airport (approx. 2.5–3 hours)

  • From Zurich Airport, take a direct train to Lucerne (Luzern), about 1 hour.

  • In Lucerne, switch to the Luzern–Interlaken Express, a scenic train that glides past lakes and mountains on its way to Interlaken Ost (about 2 hours).

From Geneva Airport (approx. 4 hours)

  • From Geneva Airport, board a train to Bern (about 2 hours).

  • In Bern, transfer to a train for Interlaken Ost (about 1 hour).

Travel Tip
Both routes are covered by the Swiss Travel Pass, and trains run with clockwork efficiency. If you can, grab a window seat—the ride into the Bernese Oberland is one of the most scenic in Switzerland.

EU Entry/Exit System (EES) and ETIAS: Important Travel Updates

Europe is introducing two new border systems that will affect non-EU travellers. The Entry/Exit System (EES) will replace manual passport stamping from October 2025, while the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS), expected in 2026, will work like a pre-travel authorisation. It’s worth knowing about these changes before your trip. Read more here.
