Ready to start your next adventure? Here’s everything you need to know about getting to and from the Tour des Glaciers de la Vanoise. This is your complete travel guide. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Getting to the Start

Geneva is the closest airport to access to the Tour des Glaciers de la Vanoise, (we recommend using Sky Scanner to help plan your flights).

From Geneva:

You can reach Pralognan-la-Vanoise via taxi or train from Geneva Airport (GVA)

  • From Geneva Center, take a train to Chambéry (1h), then transfer to Moutiers (1h), and finally a taxi (€120, 1-4 people) or bus to Pralognan-la-Vanoise (40mins). Here is the link to the bus timetable from Moutiers: https://www.cars-region-savoie.fr/line/s66/
  • Direct taxi transfer: €460 each way 1-4 people (2.5 hours).
  • Rental car: 2.5 hour drive from Geneva – depending on your pre and post trek plans this could be a better option.
  • Recommended: Consider staying a night in Pralognan-la-Vanoise if arriving the same day as your first day trekking.
Tip: The final day of the trek is designed to be shorter so you can travel onward comfortably. Most travelers either head directly to Geneva for a flight or stay overnight in the city. We generally don’t recommend a post-trip night in Pralognan-la-Vanoise unless you are doing a longer variant on your last day.

From Paris:

(please contact us before or immediately after booking if you’d like to start the trek in Modane)

  • There is an option to start the Tour des Glaciers de la Vanoise from Modane.
  • There is a direct 4h train to Modane from Paris

EU Entry/Exit System (EES) and ETIAS: Important Travel Updates

Europe is introducing two new border systems that will affect non-EU travellers. The Entry/Exit System (EES) will replace manual passport stamping from October 2025, while the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS), expected in 2026, will work like a pre-travel authorisation. It’s worth knowing about these changes before your trip. Read more here.
