For the most part getting to the start of the Haute Route is quick and straight forward. However if you are joining half way through then we might need to work on how to get to your start destination.
Don’t worry, where ever you’re starting we will help you get there. Just get in touch for some advice.
Chamonix, France
In season transfers (June-September & December-April)
- The adventure capital of the world is very easy to access. The closest airport is Geneva, which operates regular flights from all major cities (We recommend using Sky Scanner to help plan your flights). Once at the airport, you need to hop on a transfer to Chamonix which takes 1hr 30mins.
- Shared transfers cost approximately €55 each way for a direct door to door service with our partners Mountain Drop Offs. We recommend booking your transfers in advance directly with Mountain Drop Offs by clicking here.
- For a bus options, we recommend checking out SwissTours or FlixBus.

Zermatt, Switzerland
Geneva is the closest airport to access Zermatt, although Zurich is also a good option (we recommend using Sky Scanner to help plan your flights). Once you’ve landed, you can use the excellent, highly efficient Swiss train services to get to/from Zermatt depending on your itinerary. The train journey takes 3hr 30mins so you’ll have plenty of time to sit back and enjoy the mountain views. You can plan your journey here.
